BIGY700 testing has enabled researchers see their ancestor’s family structure. Below is the block tree which is generated from results of the BIGY700. The purple square shows the snp that is associated with the line of John Burnett I bn abt 1629. We know from Lucretia (MNU) Burnett’s will in 1709 that they had 3 sons. John II, Thomas Burnett Jr, and Charles Burnett.
The block tree shows snps for each of those 3 son’s lines. As more males are tested those blocks under John Burnett, I will continue to get more definition. However, we should be able to tell every new tester which son of John Burnett I they descend from based on the results of our current testers.
The block tree also shows this is an incredibly unique line as there are no other testers in the FTDNA data base that match John Burnett for over 1500 years before he was born. Finding more testers to break up the blue box is a high priority.
There is one very credible lead that is under investigation. There is a very ancient Y12 DNA match with a Weekes tester whose has primary source paperwork, his ancestor dying in Devon England in 1761.
As mentioned in the latest research section John Burnett I was brought to the colonies as an indentured servant by Abraham Weekes. How these Weekes are connected to the Burnetts are currently being studied.
