This public tree only includes people who:

1.     Have Primary Source Documentation

2.     Have lines which have been proven by Male YDNA testers

a.     The lines with the numbers in the suffix are proven by male YDNA testing

b.     People with more that one set of numbers in their suffix means there are more than one tester for that line

3.     There are 10 different Burnett YDNA lines in this tree. Every Common Ancestor in the tree is a different YDNA line, they do NOT have a common ancestor for thousands of years.

a.     R1B-C is the YDNA designation that shows the descendants of John and Lucretia

If your lineage goes back to Jeremiah Burnett I, born 1718 – It is extremely important that you have a male relative with the last name of Burnett take a Y37 DNA test to find out IF and HOW you connect to John and Lucretia Burnett. That Jeremiah was NOT the son of John Burnett and Amy Gatewood and did not even exist.

A research paper about Jeremiah with primary source documentation is on the Burnett Primary Sources Tree and it can also be found on Wikitree at this link https://www.wikitree.com/photo.php/e/eb/Burnett-343.pdf

The sons attributed to Jeremiah bn 1718 are of different YDNA lines and there is NO proof that Jeremiah Sr ever existed contrary to what previously published books have stated.

To know how or even if you connect to John and Lucretia Burnett a YDNA test is the only way to prove the connection at this time unless you can prove your lineage to their son John Burnett II.

The full research paper for John and Lucretia Burnett not being connected to the House of Leys in Scotland can be found on the Burnett Primary Sources Tree in Johns Gallery or at Wikitree at this link
